Deployment of i-nexus began in December 2007. The first site to get access to the new software was Dresser Waukesha our Engine manufacturing facility at Waukesha, WI. Project leaders in the OPEX Group were trained by i-nexus and the inventory of projects is being captured into the system. i-nexus was an instant hit! Who wouldn't love it when the software that manages your project also writes your presentation and progress reports and mails them to the stockholders. The system brings big advantages for deployment leaders as well. Not only do they get automatic reports, but they also find it much easier to ensure that any changes to guidelines and methodologies are delivered to the desktop of project leaders. Projects at Dresser Waukesha are now linked to operational KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) using a score card and metric inside i-nexus.
Of course the execution of corporate wide strategy requires not only the downward cascade of goals, but also the upward aggregation of achievement. As i-nexus Senior Account Manager, Jan Freyburgher says, "If you're setting out to achieve five different things to accomplish one higher level goal, you have to have a way of measuring how progress on those five underlying goals are moving you towards the overall goal so that you can take remedial action". i-nexus takes care of this upward aggregation of performance. When configuration is complete, a senior manager will be able to sit down at their laptop anywhere in the world, log into their i-nexus system, and see how their division is performing against their goals on a simple traffic light system. Further, they will be able to drill down into the underlying goals to find out which of their subordinates need assistance, and which have already launched corrective actions.
